Video: Using Site Build It!

Here is my shot at glory in the SiteSell iVideo design contest. It is my first try at making a video so please don't laugh. I'll let you know how it goes.

There are already a bunch of great videos from other SBIers. Seeing all the fantastic and earnest entries has been great. I now have a feeling I know just how much effort went into each entry.

I must admit I spent a lot of time at this project. Buying the video hardware and then trying it all out. Shooting and capturing and then testing and trying and finally storyboarding and doing all the shooting and capturing and cutting and sound mixing and adding pictures - resulting in this simple video.

Doing all this has been great fun and I take this all as a great learning experience and will try and use the video media more in my sites.

When I was a kid I remember taping my voice and finding it strange and uncomfortable. Now - surprisingly I had no big issues with sitting in front of the camera or hearing my voice.

The comments I have already received are encouraging. People like the fact I use my own kitchen as the set and the beautiful photos from Iceland and other countries. They also point out the weak points. The sound is hard to hear and lighting is an issue. Some pointed out that I should add shots with me in my 4x4 truck. Using my laptop as a "teleprompter" makes it look too much like I am reading the lines - as I am of course doing!

It's great getting such feedback and I will try and remix the whole thing and even try for a second entry.

Here is the text is use in case you have problems with the sound quality:

Hi - I am Thrandur from 4x4offroads.com. Thank you for dropping by and hear my message. Here I am sitting in my kitchen in Iceland. I have everything I need. My camera, my laptop computer and this camcorder.

These are the hardware tools I use to make 4x4offroads.com.

For most of my life I have been working as a specialist in various companies. I had a JOB.

Now I can take these tools with me wherever I want to go and I could live wherever I want to. I have total freedom from ordinary WORK.

I will take my 4x4 to fun filled and extreme trips taking pictures and writing about the experience. Sometimes traveling to other countries to gather CONTENT that I use for my sites.

Enthusiastic 4 wheelers from all over the world create TRAFFIC that ultimately leads to my income.

The result is that 4x4Offroads.com is a highly popular 4 wheeling site with close to 5 thousand daily visitors and more than 5 thousand subscribers to the newsletter. Looking at Alexa rankings you can see that it ranks high among the top 1 percent of all internet sites. And as a matter of fact it measures something like one of the top 10 Icelandic web sites. I trust it will continue to grow.

NOW - Lets go back in time...

One cold winter day a few years ago not long before Christmas I read an e-book by Ken Evoy – The Affiliate Masters Course. Having little knowledge about marketing this turned into a true eye-opener for me. It got me really interested in building my own sites and convinced me that creating a successful website was something that I could DO.

Estimating the cost vs. my risk I decided to just dive in! I did the market analyzes of supply and demand and found that the 4x4 and off road theme should prove popular and possible to get into. My love for the 4x4s and outdoor living made the decision easy.

Site Build It! from SiteSell is a system of products along with a special action guide - not to mention the community of like minded people. SBI has everything for web building or should I say business building using the web as the medium.

Following the Action Guide helped me to start off with the right mind set and a clear path with simple doable steps.

I love Site Build It and have already made blueprints for my next site.

What would YOUR site be about?
