Video: Critters In Cyberspace

Critters In Cyberspace: version #2 (final):

My second try for the grand prize in the SiteSell iVideo design contest. It should be a little bit better than my first try at making a video.  This is shot in the low sun of the Icelandic winter. I know it is not perfect so I asked for some feedback on the most serious issues...

Critters In Cyberspace: version #1

Here are some comments I got from friends at the SBI forums:

Claude from top-web-entrepreneurs-plan-it.com - This video is far, far better than your first one. Not only did you manage to incorporate all the required changes to your approach, but we now see outdoor action! Wow! And the analogy with cyber creatures … very poetic, and effective. The contrast is not lost on me.
However, you will never convince me that I should be careful in the presence of the “particular specimen of the species” you chose to show us :)

Audrey from writershelper.com - I love your approach! I had trouble hearing at one point, in the middle where you are looking directly at the camera.
Lovely shot of the 4X4!

Kate from basic-computerskills.com - I think this video is a big improvement from the first entry. I like the outdoor pictures mixed with you telling the "story".
However, I'm not sure I really like to be called a "critter" ?)
There were a few moments, where I thought, that my computer froze up.
I didn't like your transition, and I'm not sure I like your ending caption, but that's just me.... :)

Ashley from church-of-texas-holdem.com - Way better than #1. There are only two things I would address. The first is the volume during the short scene where you are facing the camera. I had to crank my speakers way up just to hear you. The second is your end message. It lost me completely and I still don't get it, having read it twice! Apart from that, I love your sense of humour, 'apeing' the nature documentaries. That was a great idea. I think you could cut the facing camera interview and not lose anything -- in fact, by staying 'in character' as a narrator to the very end, it would improve the video. Very good effort, and with a little tweaking will give Ken more problems!

Natasha from mydreadlocks.com - SBIers are swans in a pond of ducks? How lovely!
What a unique National Geographic approach.
The video froze at some points (three, I think) but I'm not sure if that's my computer or if those were your transitional effects for the video.

Debbie from pedigreedpups.com - Well, if anyone loves critters, that would certainly be me! I loved the analogy - "Critters In Cyberspace". Never really thought of myself as a critter even though I have quite a collection of them myself. Nice images and story- you seemed more at ease in front of the camera this time but the video at the end of you was kind of dark.

Dmytro from denmarkfacts.com - Halló Thrandur
Nice video, this one is much better.
I like the idea about different creatures in cyberspace. Video make me imagine how Colorful our planet.
Wonderful landscape and clear message.
COOL… I like your Off road car!
I like this one entry,
But…
I’ve noticed 3 times video freeze for one second. Then background changing.
May be it only because my speed.

Nicole from kids-partycabin.com - As others have said, this video is much better than your first because you just seem so much more relaxed in it. What a fabulous place that you live in although I don't think I would be very good with the cold weather. Do you ever get stuck in the snow?! Your video seemed to freeze a couple of times and the end stopped a second short I think but that could have been a problem my end.

josephine from andalusians-for-you.com - I like your new entry- and of course I have a soft spot for open spaces

Thanks all !

Claude - Yeah - I think I am gradually learning more. For me it's got to be all in the script. We took a small trip to get some cool outdoor shots. The "careful" comment is meant to indicate the hidden power within.

Harvey - I can see what you mean. Transitions are not too smooth. This is perhaps due to the Pinnacle Studio rendering to the WMF format. I had some issues with making DIVX (.AVI) they began with green pixels - anybody seen that?). Sharing the dream is my life now (and no work :) )

Audrey - I'll look into the sound better. May have to shoot the face again. - You should be able to see a thumbnail of your video under My Videos in YouTube and play it from there - can take a few minutes. And you only need to copy and paste the link directly into the message body - no need to use the URL button.

Kate - I'll stick to the "critters" for #2. Will try and fix the transitions. Your first video is definitely one of the best :)

Now it's back to fixing the videos...

"Critters In Cyberspace" - Script:

They are everywhere around the earth. From the cold lands of the north to the hot and dry deserts of the south. You can find them among ordinary people like you and me - in cities big and small - and in the most remote and desolate places.

Starting live as children of the human race and then gradually turning into creatures of cyberspace. You may have heard of them as SBIers. SBIers are known to handle every obstacle by tortoise-ing along until they reach their goal.

Living in cyberspace makes the little critters different from the rest of us. The language they speak is called "geek" a little known language with strange sounding words like brainstorming, keywords, OVERdeliver and monetizing and even weird acronyms like CTPM, SEs, RSS and XML.

Now - lets take a closer look at one particular specimen of the species...

...lets be careful when we step in so we won't disturb the creature. Having recently found freedom it can be a little bit jumpy.

On first sight you may say it looks just like other individuals of the species - that is of course only skin deep. Underneath a profound and lasting change has taken place. It will no longer be kept as a caged animal in a cubicle - rather it will "walk the earth" to strange and exotic places where few humans will dare venture doing hard to imagine and extraordinary things.

Able to see through the MATRIX it can no longer be fooled. Building its own empire in cyberspace takes up much of its time. More time is also spent with family and friends as well as activities like playing tennis and squash or going for extended adventure trips.

The strange thing is that behind these little critters is a common vision. They all share the vision and are in love with it.

In fact it is a TOOL and a step-by-step STRATEGY to transform ordinary people into business building entrepreneurs. And the vision is securely grounded by using Site Build It! from SiteSell.

I love Site Build It!
