Sandy Sahagian is an amazing wedding photographer. Sandy lives in Oregon and has many been a successful wedding photographer for a long time. Her photography catches the love and joy of the wedding and creates lasting memories.

Tell us a little about yourself and your photography.

I am a third-generation photographer with over 30 years experience, and three Masters degrees in photography. “I love creating beautiful images for my clients the ones that bring their wedding day right back to them with all the emotion and fun of the event.”

Why did you start taking photos?

Of course my dad was a phenomenal photographer and he encouraged me to try photography, given me lots of film to run through my Canon camera. He would then critique the images and especially point out that good ones.

What inspired you to turn it into a business?

In the course of getting my masters in photography I met many top photographers in the nation several of them really encouraged and inspired me to turn photography into a business, also numerous friends wanted me to photograph them in their weddings.

Why are you fascinated with weddings?

I am so fascinated with weddings because of the beauty, wonder, love and happiness surrounding the wedding day. I love to help take the chaos out of the couple's special day and start their new lives off with a positive and very happy note.

How do you capture the love and feeling of a wedding?

Capturing the love and feeling of a wedding, is quite an art. I anticipate and wait for the right expression or moment or both while all the time looking for unique locations and the best lighting situations to make the very special image that makes your heart melt every time you see it.

I bet you can tell me about some challenges you faced or awkward circumstances. Tell me about some memorable moments.

There are three of us at every wedding so that we are sure to cover all the bases , you will never have to worry about us not getting that particular image you’ve always wanted for your special day. We have all been challenged by late brides , the latest bride we've had was four hours, but not to worry we always have a plan upfront to keep things smooth and friendly.

What are some other photographic projects you enjoy working on?

We also photograph wonderful family groups, most currently we are encouraging families to bring their animals, we also enjoy very much photographing high school seniors and models, soon we will start photographing albums for bands as well. We never stop learning new things here at Sandy Sahagian Portraiture!

What kind of a camera and lenses do you primarily use and how do you select your equipment?

We always use the best equipment available to us at the moment we love Nikon and use a wide range of lenses from very wide-angle to very close up, one of my assistants loves using a fisheye lens especially for weddings. We also make sure to have backup equipment because, as you know things do happen this way we are always prepared in any event.

We select the type of equipment we use based on the reports made by top professionals and the tests run by our equipment supplier.

Can you name some tips for those who want to start a wedding photography business?

If a person wants to get involved in the very difficult, stressful wedding business the first plan would be to start small, get experienced by shadowing another photographer, this way you will learn how to deal with people in stressful situations, you must also buy a high-quality camera of course and as we all know the key to business is sell sell sell so you might want to take a business class as well.
