Photographing naked women and living in Las Vegas sounds like a dream come true. And that is just what Bryan Kurz is doing! Bryan is a professional photographer and as you can see – is able to bring out the best in the women he works with.
Tell us a little about yourself and your photography.
I currently live in Las Vegas and recently graduated from the
College of Southern Nevada with an Associated Degree in Commercial Photography. I initially went to college to learn Information Technology but I lost interest in fixing computers, setting up networks, and computer security.
I wanted to do something more exciting so I changed my studies to
I went to a boudoir photography workshop a few years ago and fell in
love with it. Thanks to motivation I got from the workshop, I
started shooting boudoir. I also shoot contemporary glamour
photography and something I came up with called boudnoir
photography, which is a dark, erotic, edgy twist on boudoir.
Why did you start taking photos?
I started taking photos of women to bring out the beauty they have
inside and out and to capture it on a image that will last forever.
Your glamour and boudoir shots are really timeless and
creative. What is your secret to photographing women?
I don’t think there is really a secret to photographing women, it’s
really about knowing the woman you are photographing.
Before a photo shoot I ask: “What do you love about your body
and what part you would like hidden?” This gives me an idea of what
part of her body to focus on and also lets me know how comfortable
she is with her body overall. I also ask her how she dreams of being
Sometimes the most shy and quiet ones are the ones that want to
break out of their comfort zone and take some really daring photos.
Never judge a book by it’s cover.
How do you express the sensuality and emotions of a woman?
I express a woman’s sensuality and emotions differently. My
photography motto is, Sexy. Classy. Edgy.
The sexy I express in my boudoir photography. In these photos the
women wear sexy lingerie, bras, panties, or completely nude. When
shooting boudoir I like to pose the client in various ways to show
off their curves and make their body look sensual and amazing.
The classy I express is my glamour photography. This is where I
bring out her beauty and confidence in some gorgeous glamour poses.
The glamour wardrobe is mainly beautiful dresses or gowns. I really
love the bright colored dresses or that sparkle all over. Those
dresses really compliment the beauty of the woman I am photographing and make her look elegant.
The edgy I express is my boudnoir photography. These are black and
white photos that are sexy and have a more erotic feel to them. With
boudnoir, the focus is more on a fetish. It could be anything from
guns, to high heels, stockings, even smoking. This genre is the most
fun because every shoot is different. The women place their
sensuality in the object that is being fetishized and not their
Living in Las Vegas and shooting half naked women you must
be the envy of most men! Tell me – what is it really like?
Most of my make friends think my job is really cool. They are a
little envious of me because I get to photograph beautiful women in
various forms of undress and GET PAID FOR IT!
It It does sound awesome, and it is. However, they fail to realize all
the hard work that goes into it. It’s not simply pushing a button on
a camera, but it’s knowing how to light your client, how to pose
them into flattering positions, how to give directions, what lens to
use, what background works best, the preparations before the shoot,
and editing after the shoot. There is really a lot that goes into
taking a boudoir photograph that most people never see or never know about.
As far as photographing women in lingerie or nude I tell them this,
If you seen one woman, you seen them all. It may sound odd, but when I am doing a photo shoot, I am too busy trying to compose a great looking pose or a shot that I really don’t pay attention to the fact that they are nude.
What are some other photographic projects you enjoy working
I likeI like to have my clients prepared for their photo shoots, so I
recently put together a blog post on my website that offers them
some tips on how to have a great looking boudoir photo shoot that’s
often overlooked. I am also putting together a makeup tutorial on
how to get a sexy smokey eye look for glamour photo shoots. This
look is always requested so I thought I would share how we do it.
What kind of a camera and lenses do you primarily use and
how do you select your equipment?
I primarIII primarily shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II. My favorite lens that I use for boudoir photography is the Canon EF 50mm 1.4. This is a really fast lens and works wonders in low natural light. My second
lens of choice is the Canon EF 24-105. This lens is great because of
the flexibility to shoot wide and capture the entire scene or zoom
in and get a really gorgeous head shot.
Can you name some tips for those who want to start a
If you are serious about starting a photography business., I would
suggest going to school and actually learn photography. It will set
you miles apart from the people that just purchased a DSLR camera
and now think they are a photographer and the rest that say they are
only “natural light” photographers simply because they do not know
other lighting techniques or how to operate strobes.
After you get an education, practice, practice, practice. You will
get better with every shoot you do.
Lastly, running a photography business is expensive, but you do not
need to own the best gear to be the best. Your clients are hiring
you based on your work and talent not because of the price tag on
your camera. Master your gear, make some money, then upgrade.
Thanks Bryan for sharing your sexy boudoir and glamour photography!
