How do I take Aerial Photos of my House?

I have always been intrigued by scenes in movies where they are capable of taking photos from satellites to track down people. I do not want to track down people but what I want is to have an aerial photo of the community that I live in. It would also be awesome to have an aerial photo of my house! When I travel by plane I always make sure to get a window seat so that I could see what is below. It is totally different when you see things from above.

 

With my curiosity pushing me to my limits about this topic, I have discovered that this process is called aerial mapping. This is also what Google Earth is doing. It paved the way to this type of technology. When I first used Google Earth after installing it in my computer, I was amazed on how it somehow made the world clearer to me. I mean I was able to recall my geography lessons again in astounding aerial maps and it was very detailed especially when it comes to roads and infrastructures. It also listed and pinpointed some key areas of interests like restaurants, stores and others.

Recently, a lot of websites have offered services for aerial photos of key areas and hot spots in a country. This type of technology has a lot of advantages especially if you plan to go to an unfamiliar place. You can login to these sites to help you have a “view” of the general outlook of the place, its landmarks and other important points. There are some countries though which are not that updated as compared to the United States but it’s a good start though.

Going back to my topic of taking aerial photos of my neighborhood, well I do not have access to a plane or a helicopter so I felt stuck with my dream of taking aerial photos of my house! With further reading and searching I have come across the option of kite aerial photography. That is right, as literal as it may seem kite aerial photography is done by fastening a camera onto a kite and voila you are set to go! Kite aerial photography has become a worldwide hobby and is growing strong. The basic elements for Kite aerial photography is a stable kite, a disposable camera and a trigger mechanism to control the camera on when to shoot. There are already kits available for beginners to assemble their own rigs and begin their hobby.

The main disadvantage with kite aerial photography is that it cannot be done just anywhere. You need to be careful on where you fly your kite. Flying it near buildings and trees may affect its capacity to take pictures due to turbulence or being caught in branches.

All in all, aerial photography can be done through the help of technology or if you want to be a little adventurous you can go for the kite aerial photography, you just have to take precautions for your trial to succeed.
